Yanshou Ginseng
Ginseng is a perennial herb that thrives in cool, moist climates and typically grows on gentle or sloping mountain terrain at elevations of 500 to 1100 meters, where there is minimal variation between day and night temperatures. These areas are usually mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests or mixed woodlands. The ginseng root is thick and spindle-shaped, often branching, and its overall appearance resembles a human head, hands, feet, and limbs—hence the name “ginseng.” In ancient times, ginseng was elegantly referred to as Huangjing (Yellow Essence), Dijing (Earth Essence), or Shencao (Divine Herb). Known as the “King of Herbs,” ginseng is one of the renowned “Three Treasures of the Northeast” (ginseng, mink fur, and deer antler), and is a precious medicinal herb famed both in China and abroad, well known to people of all ages.
