Shuangcheng City is home to 15 ethnic minorities, including Manchu, Korean, Hui, Mongolian, Daur, and Xibe, among which the Manchu population is the largest. Since its initial cultivation, Shuangcheng has been a land of outstanding people and has produced many notable figures. Generals such as Tuoyunbu and Fengshen were key military leaders of the Qing Dynasty. During the imperial examination era, the city produced 29 successful candidates in the highest-level exams (Jinshi) and 191 at the provincial level (Juren). Cultural attractions include Chengxu Gate, Kuixing Tower, Guanyin Temple, Shuangcheng Railway Station, Chengxu Park, Hope Square, and the Folk Culture Pedestrian Street. During the Liberation War, the frontline headquarters of the Fourth Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was stationed in Shuangcheng. Commanders of the “Fourth Field Army” directed famous battles here, including the Battle of Xinkaoling, the Three Campaigns South of the Yangtze River, and the Four Defenses of Linjiang. In the 19th year of the Jiaqing reign (1814), the Qing court approved General Fu Jun’s memorial suggesting “it is better to settle troops for farming in advance than merely prepare for cultivation.” A fertile area, 70 li long from north to south and 130 li wide from east to west, was chosen for establishing a town and governance. Due to the presence of two ancient Jin-era cities, Dahu and Buda (commonly known as Shuangchengzi), the town was named Shuangcheng. The golden berry is originally from Northeast China. Our city began planting it in the early 1950s, and after over 60 years of cultivation, the planted area has expanded to 15,000 mu, with an annual output of 15,000 tons. The golden berry has become a representative fruit and vegetable variety for both Shuangcheng and even Heilongjiang Province.

Heilongjiang is the main production area for golden berries, which have functions such as clearing heat, detoxifying, relieving cough, moistening the throat, and promoting urination.
