The soil in Xinli Village is fertile, and the carrots grown here are rich in various vitamins. In the past, local farmers grew carrots mainly for self-sufficiency and to sell a small amount at the market, earning little extra income. In 1999, the villagers began planting superior varieties and expanding cultivation areas. District, township, and village-level authorities also increased their services and guidance, distributing individualized production technical plans to each household and establishing field technical records. In 2001, the village was designated as a “Pollution-Free Carrot Production Base” by the Harbin Agriculture Bureau and Environmental Protection Bureau.

The base is located at the foot of Tianheng Mountain in the eastern suburbs of Harbin, under the jurisdiction of Minzhu Township. It primarily grows carrots, utilizing advanced production techniques and extensive farming experience. The cultivation area spans 10,000 mu, with an annual output of 30,000 tons of high-quality carrots. Supply begins in early August and continues until April of the following year. The base has 20,000 square meters of decentralized storage cellars, with a total storage capacity of up to 10,000 tons, forming a carrot production base of considerable scale.

The base is situated on elevated terraces with black, loose, and fertile soil. It has abundant underground water resources that are clean and unpolluted. The moderate temperature and ample sunlight create ideal conditions for carrot growth. According to testing by the Harbin Environmental Monitoring Center, the soil, water, and air quality of the base meet all the standards specified in NY5010-2002. Thanks to these unique geographical and climatic advantages, the carrots produced here are rich in natural beta-carotene, vitamins, and various trace elements, offering high nutritional and health benefits. The carrots from this base are brightly colored, vibrant red, and of excellent quality and specifications, surpassing similar products. Hence, they have earned the reputation of “Little Ginseng of the Northeast.”
