The cultivation of Acheng Chinese cabbage has a long history and has developed rapidly. As early as the first year of the Kantō era, locals in Acheng began growing Chinese cabbage. After the founding of New China, the rural areas implemented the household contract responsibility system reform. By helping farmers drill motor-pumped wells, 100% of the arable land in Chinese cabbage production areas was converted to irrigated land, which greatly motivated farmers to grow cabbage. In addition, farmers continuously applied more manure, improved cultivation techniques, and adopted various planting methods such as intercropping and multiple cropping, increasing the number of plants per unit area. Enhanced field management also led to significant improvements in both the yield and quality of the cabbage. Acheng Chinese cabbage won widespread popularity among consumers for its unique quality, and the amount of cabbage stored in cellars increased year by year. Farmers in Acheng District strictly adhere to the standardized production techniques for green food Chinese cabbage and pollution-free Chinese cabbage. A pollution-free Chinese cabbage standardized production demonstration zone was established in Baicheng Village, Ashi River. Due to its resistance to three major diseases, excellent taste, superior quality, and good storability and transportability, Acheng Chinese cabbage is popular in the surrounding areas of Harbin, other regions of Heilongjiang Province, and is also exported to Liaoning, Jilin, Shenzhen, and other places.
