Geographical Scope
The Wudalianchi Nature Reserve is located in Heilongjiang Province on the western side of the Lesser Khingan Mountains. Wudalianchi is a “UNESCO Global Geopark” and a national-level “Scenic Area and Nature Reserve.” The Wudalianchi mineral water is one of the world’s three major cold mineral springs and China’s only cold mineral spring health resort. The protected production area for Wudalianchi Crucian Carp spans 2,200 hectares. It includes eight naturally formed pools: First Pool, Second Pool, Third Pool, Fourth Pool, Fifth Pool, South Crescent Pool, North Crescent Pool, and Yaquan Lake. The annual yield of mineral spring crucian carp is 200 tons. The geographical coordinates are longitude 126°00′–126°26′ and latitude 48°34′–48°48′.
Product Quality Characteristics
This section mainly describes the unique quality characteristics of the registered product and the quality and safety standards followed, including: 1. External Sensory Features: Wudalianchi Crucian Carp has a laterally compressed, high-bodied shape with a relatively thick body and a round abdomen. The head is short and small, with a blunt snout. It lacks barbels. The gill rakers are long, and the gill filaments are slender. There is a single row of pharyngeal teeth, which are flat and plate-like. The scales are large. The lateral line is slightly curved. The dorsal fin is long with a relatively straight outer edge. The third hard spine of both the dorsal and anal fins is strong, with serrated posterior edges. The tips of the pectoral fins can reach the base of the pelvic fins. The caudal fin is deeply forked. Generally, the back is grayish-black, the belly is silvery-gray, and the fins are grayish-white. The flesh of the crucian carp is soft, tender, and sweet in flavor. 2. Internal Quality Indicators: Wudalianchi Crucian Carp grows in mineral water rich in various trace elements, especially high in calcium and phosphorus. Each kilogram contains more than 70 mg of calcium, over 260 mg of magnesium, more than 28 mg of iron, and over 1000 mg of phosphorus. The crude protein content is greater than 16%, crude fat is less than 2%, and unsaturated fatty acids account for more than 70% of total fatty acids, making it very beneficial to human health. 3. Safety Requirements: Wudalianchi Crucian Carp complies with GB/T18407.4-2001, the Quality Safety of Agricultural Products – Environmental Requirements for Pollution-Free Aquatic Product Production Areas; the production environment follows NY5051-2001, the Water Quality for Pollution-Free Freshwater Aquaculture; and the product itself meets the standard NY5053-2005, Pollution-Free Ordinary Freshwater Fish.
