Gannan Corn
Xingfu Village in ZhaHaYang Township, Gannan County, is known for its abundant corn production. The corn plants grow to a height of 2.8 to 3.2 meters, with an ear position around 130 centimeters. The ears are approximately 20 centimeters long, and the seeds have a thousand-kernel weight of about 350 grams. The crop is drought-resistant, lodging-resistant, and resistant to both northern and southern leaf blight. It exhibits strong growth, sturdy stems, and wide adaptability to various planting conditions. It thrives with ample water and fertilizer, requiring farmyard manure as base fertilizer—applied at 3,000 to 5,000 kilograms per mu—as well as diammonium phosphate as seed fertilizer at 10 to 15 kilograms per mu, and urea as topdressing at 15 to 20 kilograms per mu. Under conditions of meticulous farming and sufficient water and fertilizer, when field density reaches 8,000 to 10,000 plants per mu, the yield of silage can reach 6,000 to 9,000 kilograms per mu at maturity. The general seeding rate is 3.5 to 4.5 kilograms per mu.
