Qiaozi Gagaga Jujube
Qiaozi Gagaga Jujube is a protected geographical indication product.
The 112 square kilometers of lush mountains and clear waters in Qiaozi Town open their warm arms to welcome guests from all directions. With vast mountainous areas and natural conditions such as climate and soil that are highly suitable for jujube growth, Qiaozi Town has historically been a prime location for jujube production around Beijing. Gagaga jujube is a native variety of Beijing and was once offered as a tribute to the imperial court during the Ming Dynasty. However, not long after, the production of Gagaga jujube rapidly declined and it was once on the verge of extinction. Starting in 2004, Qiaozi Town leveraged its own advantages to revitalize this distinctive fruit, making fresh jujubes accessible to the general public. Over the past few years, the town has cultivated over 10 varieties of jujubes, including Gagaga jujube, winter jujube, and golden silk jujube, earning it the title of "The No. 1 Jujube Town in the Suburbs of Beijing." During this crisp autumn season, a visit to Qiaozi Town will allow you to experience the jujube-growing scenery where “gazing into the distance at the mountaintops, all you see are jujube orchards, not the mountains.”
The production area of Qiaozi Gagaga Jujube covers 24 administrative villages within the jurisdiction of Qiaozi Town, Huairou District, Beijing, stretching from Shangwanyu Village in the west to Houqiazi Village in the east, from Koutou Village in the north to Qianqiazi Village in the south.
