Maojian Mushroom
Maojian Mushroom
The only place in China where Maojian Mushrooms are found is the Greater Khingan Mountains. Historical records indicate that during the Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi sent people to the deep valleys of the Greater Khingan Mountains in the northeast to engage in gold mining. Sixty years later, people were amazed to discover that on the mined land—specifically on Maojian stones—a unique type of mushroom grew, emitting a fragrant aroma. When picked and consumed, it had a delicious taste and exquisite flavor. Due to its extremely limited production, it was regarded as a tribute food by the local authorities and served to the imperial palace. With the advancement of science, today, after analysis of its components, it has been confirmed that the Maojian Mushroom contains several to dozens of times more amino acids, proteins, and trace elements than ordinary mushrooms. It is hailed as the “meat among vegetables” and the “sacred mushroom,” making it an excellent gift for friends and family.
