Mink fur
One of the specialties of Heilongjiang Province, listed among the “Three Treasures of the Northeast” along with ginseng and deer antler. The mink fur produced in Heilongjiang comes in two types: sable fur and mink fur. Sables mainly live in the forests of the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains and the Wandashan Mountains. Resembling cats but slightly longer in body, their fur is greyish-brown, yellowish-brown, or blackish-brown. The fur is fine, soft, dense, and does not deform under pressure. Clothing and hats made from sable fur have excellent insulation properties and a glossy finish, making them top-grade pelts. Minks are domesticated animals introduced from abroad. Their fur is slightly inferior to that of sables, but some varieties are brightly colored. They are suited to living indoors, have a high reproductive rate, and offer good economic returns.
