Jian Salted Duck Eggs from the Yalu River
Jian Salted Duck Eggs from the Yalu River are a protected geographical indication product.
Jian City is known as the "Little Jiangnan of the North." The Yalu River is wide with excellent water quality and free from any chemical pollution, making it highly suitable for the growth and reproduction of flora and fauna. Thanks to Jian City's unique natural ecological environment and the high-quality water of the Yalu River, the salted duck eggs produced from the ducks raised along the Yalu River in Jian have distinctive product characteristics. Raw salted duck eggs are uniform in size, with small air sacs, liquid and sticky egg whites, and intact, bulging egg yolks. When cooked, the salted duck eggs have intact egg whites that are fine, elastic, and non-sticky to the shell, with no "honeycomb" effect, and firmer egg yolks with visible oil seepage.
To accelerate the industrialization of the duck farming industry in Jian City, in 2001, Jian City applied to the Ministry of Agriculture for the construction of the Jian Yalu River Duck Science and Technology Demonstration Farm project, which received approval and support. Since the implementation of the project, it has achieved good results, helping grow and expand the duck farming industry, with products in high demand. Relevant insiders stated that the successful application of this project will further enhance the reputation of Jian Yalu River duck eggs, promote the agricultural industrialization development of Jian City, and help increase farmers' income and prosperity.
The geographical indication protection area for Jian Salted Duck Eggs from the Yalu River covers five administrative regions currently under the jurisdiction of counties in Jilin Province: Qingshi Town, Taiwang Town, Maxian Township, Yulin Town, and Liangshui Korean Ethnic Township in Jian City.
