Beijing White Chicken
The Beijing White Chicken is a new high-quality egg-laying chicken breed successfully developed by Beijing Poultry Breeding Company. This chicken has a small and delicate body, covered entirely in white feathers that cling tightly to its frame. The main characteristics of the Beijing White Chicken are early maturity, high egg production, low feed consumption, and strong adaptability. It produces around 260 eggs per year, with an average weight of 57 grams per egg, and requires about two jin of concentrate feed to produce one jin of eggs, all reaching international standards for commercial layer chickens. This type of chicken can be raised in both northern and southern China, and is suitable for both high-density caged farming in industrial settings and free-range systems.
The Beijing White Chicken is a high-quality egg-laying breed developed by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Animal Husbandry’s Poultry Breeding Company through selective breeding based on imported foreign chicken breeds. It features a small body size, low feed consumption, high egg production, strong disease resistance, and ease of rearing. Over the past few years, it has been promoted across the country and has been well received by poultry farmers.
The Beijing White Chicken has the physical characteristics of the Leghorn breed, namely a delicate body, tightly clinging white feathers, a large and bright red single comb—with the male’s comb being upright and slightly thick, while the female’s is slightly thinner and often tilts to one side. Its beak, shanks, and skin are yellow, and the earlobes are white. The Beijing White Chicken comes in three lines: I, II, and III. The purebred lines begin laying eggs at 150–160 days of age, producing around 240 eggs by 72 weeks, with an egg weight of 57–60 grams and a feed-to-egg ratio of 2.66:1. High-performing crossbred chickens can lay up to 262 eggs by 72 weeks of age, with an egg weight of 57 grams.
