Last updated 2026-10-04 — Fuma Brand Dried Chili Peppers are produced in Fushun Township, Taonan City, Jilin Province, located on the Songbei Plain. Fushun Township lies between the Tao and Jiao rivers. The area boasts fertile soil, high accumulated annual temperatures, strong sunlight, large diurnal temperature variations, and relatively low rainfall—creating naturally ideal conditions for growing chili peppers. Additionally, well-developed water conservancy facilities provide excellent support for the chili industry. This beautiful and fertile land is renowned both in China and abroad as the “Hometown of the Four Pungents” (referring to chili peppers, green onions, garlic, and flue-cured tobacco). Dried chili varieties such as Fushun’s Guidinghong have nearly a century of production and processing history as commercial products. As early as October 1971, Fushun dried chilies were showcased as a “Taonan specialty” at the Canton Fair. In December of the same year, they were approved by Premier Zhou Enlai for direct export to countries and regions including Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, exempt from inspection. In recent years, with the development of the market economy and active participation in market competition, Fushun dried chilies have firmly established themselves in both domestic and international markets. Amid fierce market competition, the Fushun chili industry has achieved unprecedented growth. A production chain has now taken shape: the market drives leading enterprises, which in turn support local bases; companies are linked with farmers through contracts and services—paving the way for an integrated agricultural cooperation model that combines trade, industry, and agriculture, as well as a seamless process from production to processing to sales. Fushun chilies, branded as “Fuma,” have become a well-known product of Jilin Province. “Fuma Brand” dried chili peppers are known for their attractive shape, uniform size, thick skin, delicious taste, and high content of pigments and vitamins. In early 1999, this product series applied for national patent registration of agricultural and sideline products, and was officially named “Fuma Brand” dried chili peppers by the relevant national authorities, with continued production of a series of processed products. In June of the same year, testing by the National Agricultural Products Quality Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture showed that all 14 data indicators met national first-class standards. In September, the product represented Jilin Province’s premium brands at an international agricultural products exhibition held in Beijing. The Fuma Brand Dried Chili Pepper production base is the largest of its kind in Northeast China, currently operating 120 seedling greenhouses covering an area of 36,000 square meters. The chili planting area spans 3,000 hectares, with a total output of 12 million kilograms. Fuma Brand Dried Chili Peppers have been developed based on local varieties such as Guidinghong, and now come in multiple series. Internationally recognized superior varieties such as Zaoguang, Fuqiang, Yidu Red, Tiansheng, and Tianshu No. 3 have all been successfully cultivated here. The processing industry for Fuma Brand Dried Chili Peppers has flourished, with 25 processing enterprises of various sizes in the township, capable of processing 12,500 kilograms of dried chilies per day and 5 million kilograms annually. Fuma Brand Dried Chili Peppers have a broad sales market; the company has established trade partnerships with businesses in some foreign countries and over 300 clients across 21 provinces and cities in China, indirectly exporting to South Korea, Southeast Asia, and other regions.
