Buckwheat Mountain Village Big Cherries

　　Buckwheat Mountain Village in Dawei Family Subdistrict, Jinzhou New District, Dalian, is located on the coast of the Bohai Sea. It is a picturesque village surrounded by the sea on three sides and mountains on one. The village covers an area of only 40,000 square kilometers, with 1,400 mu of arable land, and is home to over 280 households and a total population of 801. In 2000, the village began developing the big cherry industry, and has since achieved remarkable success in this field.

　　Buckwheat Mountain Village has now built over 400 mu of rain-sheltered big cherry orchards, with an investment of more than 5 million yuan. The orchards are equipped with 200 rainwater collection ponds, with a total storage capacity of up to 70,000 cubic meters. The roads within the orchards are well-maintained, including 12 kilometers of asphalt roads, 5.5 kilometers of cement roads, and 2 kilometers of gravel roads. There are 8 parking lots for tourists to pick and sightsee cherries, 2 standardized public toilets, and a tourism service area has been established within the orchards. The main varieties of cherries grown in the village include Samino, Jiahong, Hongdeng, Rainier, 8–102, 8–109, Meizao, Ukraine, Sanba, and Lapins, offering a diverse selection. The village has also established the Dalian Jinjiao Fruit Tree Professional Cooperative, creating a more mature operational model. The picking garden has obtained pollution-free production area certification and has been one of the main cherry-picking gardens for the Dalian Big Cherry Festival for three consecutive years. On June 10, 2010, Walmart held an unveiling ceremony in Buckwheat Mountain Village to establish a big cherry procurement base and signed an agreement. The cherries from Buckwheat Mountain Village are now sold across the country and even exported overseas.
