Dandong - Gushan Apricot Plum
The Gushan Apricot Plum is famous for originating in Dagushan Town, Donggou County, Liaoning. Known for its large size, it is also locally called "Big Apricot Plum." With over 100 years of cultivation history, it is one of Liaoning’s renowned fruits. The Gushan Apricot Plum features large fruits, small pits, thick flesh, and an average single fruit weight of 76 grams, with the largest reaching up to 105 grams. The fruit skin is yellow with a red blush. The flesh is tender, juicy, sweet, and pleasantly tangy, making it excellent in quality. Besides being eaten fresh, it can also be processed into canned products. The Gushan Apricot Plum is highly resilient, relatively disease-resistant and cold-hardy, with little alternate-year bearing. It thrives in loose, well-aerated soil with active microorganisms and moderate water and fertilizer. Trees begin bearing fruit at five years and reach peak production at around 15 years.
