Asarum
Asarum is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Asarum in the Aristolochiaceae family, named for its slender roots and pungent flavor. It is a specialty medicinal herb of Liaoning Province, hence also called Liaoning Asarum. Since the late 1950s, Liaoning has experimented with cultivating wild Asarum as a domesticated crop, and after the 1970s, cultivated Asarum was widely promoted in the mountainous regions of eastern Liaoning.
