Jiukoumen Liquor
Jiukoumen Liquor is the flagship Baijiu brand of Jiujang Liquor Industry Co., Ltd. in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. It is located beside National Highway 102, ten kilometers east of Shanhaiguan (the First Pass Under Heaven), in Suizhong County on the Liaoxi Corridor. Situated by the Jiuriver in Xidianzi Town, Suizhong County, Liaoning Province, it lies to the west of the Jiukoumen Water Great Wall—the first World Cultural Heritage site in Northeast China. Established on October 1, 1999, the company evolved from Jiulongquan Distillery, which was built in 1997. With assets exceeding 90 million yuan, it covers an area of 32,137 square meters and employs over 200 staff members, 29.6% of whom hold college-level education or above. The company is well-capitalized, equipped with first-class production lines and inspection facilities, boasting an annual production capacity of 5,000 tons of high-quality Baijiu. The Jiukoumen series of Baijiu produced by the company are strong-aroma style liquors. The products have been recognized as “Consumer Trusted and Satisfied Products” in Liaoning Province and “Famous Brand Products” in Huludao City. They have also received honors such as “Nationally Recognized High-Quality Baijiu with Renowned Reputation,” “Famous Trademark of Liaoning Province,” and “2006 Leading Brand in Huludao’s Alcoholic Beverage Industry.” Liu Dongsheng, the General Manager, has been named an “Outstanding Entrepreneur” for many consecutive years, as well as a “Model Worker of Huludao City” and “Model Worker of Liaoning Province.” He was also elected as a deputy to the 10th Huludao Municipal People's Congress and a standing committee member of the 9th Suizhong County CPPCC. For seven consecutive years (1999–2006), the company was rated as an AAA Credit Enterprise in Liaoning Province, earning titles such as “Contract-Abiding and Credit-Worthy Unit,” “Advanced Unit in Comprehensive Social Governance,” “Advanced Unit in Legal System Education,” “Civilized Unit,” “Work Safety Unit,” and “Outstanding Enterprise.” To pursue brand revitalization, establish corporate image, and grow the business stronger and bigger, the company invested 50 million yuan in renovation and expansion projects. It now has the capacity for six Baijiu production lines, with two currently in operation; storage capacity reaches 2,000 tons. A new inspection and laboratory center has been built at the factory center, outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment including computerized gas chromatographs. To ensure product quality and deliver Baijiu that satisfies consumers, the company hired a renowned Baijiu master brewer from Sichuan as the chief engineer to guide production. Utilizing the clear and sweet waters of the Jiuriver and selecting premium northeastern ingredients—such as red sorghum, corn, barley, wheat, and glutinous rice—the company combines traditional five-grain brewing techniques with modern technology. Fermentation takes place in mud pits using double fermentation cycles, resulting in a mellow, rich, full-bodied liquor with intense cellar aroma and lingering fragrance. Building on past experience, the company actively implements modern enterprise management, continuously promotes technological advancement, and strengthens product quality controls. In 2004, it adopted the ISO9001:2000 standard management model and obtained ISO9001:2000 international quality system certification in 2005. This certification marks the company’s move toward standardized, systematic, and modernized quality management aligned with international practices. In accordance with the quality management system, inspections are categorized into raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods, with dedicated inspection protocols and quality standards established to ensure substandard raw materials are not accepted, substandard semi-finished products do not proceed, and substandard finished products do not leave the factory. The production process incorporates a combined self-inspection, mutual-inspection, and specialized-inspection system, embedding the entire production cycle within a virtuous loop to fundamentally ensure stable and improved quality. Product qualification rates, as tested by provincial, municipal, and county authorities, consistently reach 100%. This rigorous quality management system has yielded rewarding results, allowing the Jiukoumen brand to carve out its own market presence through scientific management. Guided by customer needs, the company upholds principles of consistent quality, moderate pricing, attentive service, and customer-first service, striving to deliver the highest-quality products. In branding, the company leverages the cultural backdrop of the Great Wall—symbolizing the backbone of the Chinese nation—and the prehistoric cradle of the Chinese civilization in Liaoxi, establishing a grand and sweeping brand culture themed “Stretching Across China, None Can Match Me.” As society progresses, all industries continue to evolve, and the Baijiu industry faces especially fierce challenges. On the track of market economy, without best-selling products, a company will lose direction; without innovative, upgraded products, there is no sustainable growth. Developing new products remains an eternal theme for enterprises. The company has never ceased its R&D efforts. Centered around its flagship brands “Jiuzhou” and “Jiuding,” it has successfully developed a range of Baijiu products in varying alcohol levels, specifications, and tiers. For instance, the launch of “Jiulong” liquor quickly gained consumer favor and secured a solid market share, forming its own brand strength. The company is currently developing “Jiutian” liquor, slated for launch in October. The company’s sales network now spans Huludao (Lianshan, Longgang, Nanpiao, Xingcheng, Jianchang, Suizhong), Jinzhou (Linghe, Guta, Taihe, Heishan, Yixian, Jinzhou Port, extending to Xinmin and Liaozhong in Shenyang), Yingkou (Dashiqiao, Bayuquan, Gaizhou, etc.), and Qinhuangdao in Hebei Province. Preparations are underway to expand into other markets across the province, with plans to achieve full market coverage in Liaoning by 2010. For years, the company has upheld people-oriented principles, respecting knowledge and talent. Adhering to the policy of appointing the virtuous and following the principle of “let the capable rise, the average make way, and the incompetent step down,” it implements competitive job assignments, fair compensation based on labor contribution, greatly motivating employee enthusiasm and creativity. At the same time, the company enhances humanistic management, ensuring employees work in a harmonious and pleasant environment, fostering a positive corporate culture where “the company grows with its employees, and employees thrive with the company,” making the workplace feel like home. Today, backed by strong enterprise capability, a grand brand culture of “Stretching Across China, None Can Match Me,” the corporate vision of “Promoting National Culture, Building an Eternal Legacy,” the business philosophy of “Surviving on Quality, Growing on Reputation,” and the corporate spirit of “Pursuing Development, Upholding Integrity, Emphasizing Quality, Creating Value,” the company nurtures internal harmony, seeks external goodwill, shares prosperity, seizes opportunities, and strives to create iconic spirits of Northeastern culture and jointly build the glory of Jiujang. I: Benefits of Drinking Baijiu:
Baijiu can calm the nerves and aid sleep:
The composition of Baijiu is highly complex. For example, the aromatic compounds in Moutai alone exceed 70 types, many of which are essential for human health. Drinking a small amount of Baijiu before bed can help with sleep and stimulate secretion of gastric and salivary fluids, aiding digestion. Additionally, moderate Baijiu consumption can help dispel cold, promote circulation, and relax muscles. However, due to its high alcohol content, excessive drinking should be avoided, as it may lead to alcohol poisoning, damaging the liver and brain cells. Pregnant women, in particular, should avoid heavy drinking, as it can harm fetal health.
For the average person, when consuming Baijiu, it is advisable not to exceed 2 liang (100g) per day for high-alcohol varieties—such as 52° Moutai—and no more than 3 liang (150g) per day for lower-alcohol types—such as 38° Wuliangye.
II: The Biggest Taboo When Drinking Baijiu:
Warning: Drinking Baijiu with soft drinks harms your kidneys and liver!!!!!!
Drinking Baijiu together with soft drinks can damage your health. Mixing carbonated beverages with Baijiu causes alcohol to rapidly disperse throughout the body and produces large amounts of carbon dioxide, severely harming organs such as the stomach, intestines, liver, and kidneys, as well as the cerebral blood vessels.
Medical experts advise being mindful of the above when dining at buffets, and recommend eating different types of food at staggered times.
Also:
Alcohol generates significant calories—7 kcal per gram—but these are difficult for the body to utilize (less than 50% are absorbed). Moreover, alcohol can cause blood sugar fluctuations. Drinking large amounts on an empty stomach may lead to severe hypoglycemia, and the symptoms of drunkenness can mask those of low blood sugar, making it difficult to detect and very dangerous.
Therefore, the following recommendations are advised:
1. People with high blood sugar should avoid alcohol.
2. When blood sugar is well-controlled, moderate alcohol consumption is acceptable, but avoid sweet alcoholic drinks. You may plan consumption—for example, 1–2 times per week, limiting intake to two small glasses of Baijiu or one large glass of beer each time, while reducing staple food portions accordingly. In the long term, patients with a drinking habit should gradually quit.
3. Avoid heavy drinking. Never drink on an empty stomach.
4. Monitor blood sugar levels before and after drinking to understand its impact.
In short, both Baijiu and beer are fine in moderation—the key is to control the amount. That is what matters most.
