Huanren Liaoning Schisandra
Huanren Liaoning Schisandra is a geographical indication certification trademark.
Schisandra berries mostly grow in mixed forests, small trees and shrubs along mountain streams, or twining around other trees. The plant bears unisexual flowers, but some are bisexual—monoecious (both sexes on the same plant), though dioecious (separate sexes) plants also exist. The formation of male and female flowers is related to nutrient conditions. Older plants or those growing in poor soil tend to produce more male flowers. Younger, vigorous plants, or those cultivated with ample water and fertilizer, proper management, and appropriate pruning, usually bear more female flowers. Flowers grow on branches from the previous year, with female flowers often appearing on the upper parts of climbing stems. Schisandra is highly adaptable, thriving in fertile, moist, and sunny environments.
Cultivation of Schisandra: Artificial cultivation of Schisandra mostly uses sexual reproduction methods.
