Huanren Astragalus
Huanren Astragalus is a geographical indication certification trademark.
Astragalus, also known as milk vetch, is a perennial herbaceous plant growing 50–100 cm tall. It has a thick, woody taproot that often branches and is grayish-white in color. The stem is upright, branching abundantly at the top, with fine ridges and covered in white soft hairs. It is native to regions such as Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Gansu, and Heilongjiang. The medicinal use of astragalus dates back over 2000 years. It helps enhance immune function, protect the liver, promote diuresis, resist aging, combat stress, lower blood pressure, and offers broad-spectrum antibacterial effects. However, it must be avoided by individuals with excess exterior conditions, excess pathogenic factors, qi stagnation and dampness obstruction, food stagnation, early-stage abscesses or post-ulceration with lingering heat-toxin, as well as those with yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity. It is commonly found in northeastern, northern, and northwestern China, growing along forest edges, in shrubs, or sparse woods, as well as on grassy slopes or meadows. It is widely cultivated across the country and is one of the most frequently used traditional Chinese medicinal herbs.
