Longwangmao Apricot Kernels
Longwangmao apricot kernels originate from Mentougou District in Beijing. The trees have an open canopy, tall stature, and strong adaptability, being cold-resistant, drought-tolerant, and able to grow in poor soil. They begin to bear fruit two to three years after grafting, with no obvious alternate bearing. The fruits are long-oval, flattened on both sides, with 2–3 grooves at the stem cavity. The average fruit weight is 20–25 grams, with a yellow skin and thin flesh, abundant fiber, little juice, and free stone. The kernels are flat, large, plump, sweet, and have a 30% kernel rate, with a single kernel weighing 0.9 grams. Among kernel-producing apricots, these kernels are the largest, of excellent quality, and high-yielding. They are mainly distributed in Qingshui Town and Zhaitang Town of Mentougou District. The fruits ripen in early to mid-July.
