What are some famous estate coffees in Panama? In recent years, Panama has gained fame for its Geisha coffee beans. While Panama is well known for its Geisha, it also grows high-quality coffee varieties. This Zinfandel coffee bean, which shares its name with the grape variety, is of the Caturra type and comes from Tangjie Estate in Panama.

Brewing method: dry grounds

Panama is home to many top-tier coffee estates and coffee stars. The unique microclimates and fertile volcanic soil at high altitudes ensure the high quality of Panamanian coffee. Panamanian coffee is known for being clean, bright, and possessing distinctive floral flavors.

Zinfandel is a popular red grape variety in the United States, so this coffee, named after it, is quite sweet and as smooth and rich as wine. In 2003, when the estate owner purchased Tangjie Estate near the Barú Volcano, the land had been abandoned for five years. The estate sits at an altitude of 1,450 meters, and coffee trees are planted in alignment with the phases of the moon.

As a result, the coffee beans produced at Tangjie Estate are branded as “Cafés De La Luna” (Coffee Under the Moon), representing a unique flavor both locally and in the global coffee scene. Today, the “Cafés De La Luna” brand is recognized for its distinctive taste and enjoys a respected ethical standing in the local and global coffee communities.
