In 2021, the Emerald Estate announced the cancellation of its Blue Label brand, which was a great disappointment to many Geisha coffee enthusiasts. Compared to the high-priced Red and Green Labels, the Blue Label was considered a more affordable option and was beloved by many. Fortunately, in the same year, volcanic rock Geisha coffee from the same origin emerged and can be regarded as the new Blue Label from the Emerald Estate.

The Las Rocas Volcanic Rock Geisha is a new brand of Geisha coffee beans from the 2021 harvest season. In fact, it comes from the renowned Emerald Estate and is grown at an altitude of around 1,500 meters, using the washed processing method. Attentive readers may notice that the information about these coffee beans is identical to that of the Blue Label Geisha — and there's no mistake, this is indeed the original Blue Label Geisha. The reason the Emerald Estate did not release any information about a new Blue Label Geisha for the 2021 harvest season is that the original Blue Label batch was “diverted for domestic sales” to a certain green coffee company. This brand is also a new one launched by that company. Unsurprisingly, the flavor profile of these beans is the same as that of the washed Blue Label Geisha.
When brewed, it offers a subtle floral aroma, with a soft acidity of lemon and grapefruit upon entry, followed by honey-like sweetness in the mid-palate, and a finish of oolong tea texture and brown sugar sweetness. The taste is clean and bright. The sun-dried Blue Label from Front Street Coffee, when brewed, emits a fermented aroma and fruity sweetness, with flavors of melon and tropical fruits reminiscent of juice, delivering an overall very high level of sweetness.
