Wuhe Tea is a specialty of Wuhe Village, Yangtan Town, Guangde City. It has also been awarded the National Agricultural Product Geographical Indication. Many people are unclear about what type of tea Wuhe Tea is, how it tastes, and how to distinguish its quality. After reading this article, you’ll have the answers.

The ecological tea gardens of Wuhe Village are famous for their green tea production. With high mountains, heavy fog, and clear streams, the area features numerous tea-covered hills of varying sizes. The total planting area exceeds 5,000 acres, and over 2,000 local residents are primarily engaged in tea production and sales.

When it comes to Wuhe Tea, one must mention Hu Fanglong, a retired soldier. Born in 1988, Hu returned to his hometown to start a business after being discharged from the military in 2008. Bamboo and tea were originally the main sources of income for villagers. Spotting the region’s abundant bamboo and timber resources, Hu established a bamboo and wood processing factory that sold over 8 million pounds of bamboo annually. However, in recent years, the bamboo market has been in steady decline, and the village urgently needed a new path forward.

Appearance characteristics: Wuhe Tea features straight, sharp-edged leaves that are plump, even, and glossy green in color. The tea liquor is bright and light green, with a delicate aroma carrying floral notes. The taste is mellow, fresh, and robust, while the leaf base is tender, uniform, and vibrant green.

Its unique qualities: thick, robust buds with a rich flavor and lingering fragrance.
