Colombia is a rare coffee-producing country that mandates its citizens to grow only Arabica coffee. This shows how highly they value coffee varieties, and as coffee thrives on this land, many new varieties have emerged. You may have seen ripe coffee cherries that are red, but at Colombia’s Cauca Paraiso Estate, there is a pink one — truly unique.

Colombia only allows the cultivation of Arabica coffee beans, so Pink Bourbon is an Arabica variety, believed to be a cross between Yellow Bourbon and Red Bourbon. This coffee variety is named Pink Bourbon because it turns pink when ripe. The pink color is unstable, making this bean extremely rare.
Diego Bermudez of Paraiso Estate is a young coffee producer from Bolivar, Cauca. In 2006, after completing his degree in Agricultural Business Management, he began producing coffee. From the start, he was determined to become a specialty coffee producer, applying all the knowledge he gained in university to coffee production. Since then, he has participated in various coffee quality competitions, achieving excellent results.
Paraiso Estate enjoys a mild and moist climate along with frequent winds from the Pacific Ocean. These environmental conditions help impart tropical fruit aromas to their coffee. The coffee cherries ripen slowly here, accumulating high levels of sugar, which greatly enhances the cupping quality of the coffee. At Finca El Paraiso (Paraiso Estate), to maintain consistency in coffee quality, mechanical yet sustainable processing methods are used.
