What specialty coffee is worth recommending in El Salvador? Today, we bring you a SHB-grade coffee bean from La Muze Estate, located in the Apaneca Mountains of El Salvador. The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,250 meters. When the coffee matures and enters the harvest season, the estate’s farmers carefully select fully ripe red Bourbon and Catuai cherries, then process them using a black honey method that preserves nearly 100% of the fruit mucilage. The resulting flavors include citrus, berries, grapes, cocoa, with excellent balance.

La Muze Estate is located in Concepción de Ataco, Ahuachapán Province, El Salvador. It is a small coffee farm covering 37 acres, owned by Thelma de Gutierrez and managed by her husband José Enrique Gutiérrez. As third-generation coffee growers, the Gutiérrez couple leverages years of experience to increase productivity and improve the environmental health of the estate. This includes producing and applying microbial compost tea on-site. For example, the couple also grows various legumes on the estate, which not only ensure food for the family but also serve as nitrogen-fixing fertilizers to enhance the health of the land and boost the yield of fresh coffee cherries. This concludes the introduction to the black honey processed coffee beans from La Muze Estate, a specialty coffee farm in El Salvador.
