Simmental cattle

　　Simmental cattle are known for their large size, high meat yield, elevated milk protein and fat percentages, hardiness on rough feed, and ease of management. At 24 months, fattened bulls have a carcass weight of 605.3 kg and a dressing percentage of 59.3%. At 22 months, cows weigh 366.4 kg in carcass weight with a dressing percentage of 55.4%. Stall-fed cows produce an average of 5,722 kg of milk per year, with yields reaching up to over 9,000 kg. Simmental cattle are distributed throughout Xinjiang, with key production areas in Aksu, Kashgar, and Hotan in southern Xinjiang as well as Korla. The total population in Xinjiang is 975,800 head, with an annual slaughter of 250,000 head.
