  Ningxia has a long history of freshwater fish farming. The Yinchuan Plain features flat and open terrain, fertile land, crisscrossing canals, abundant water resources, ample sunshine, and rich heat—all contributing to superior natural conditions. The water bodies are lush with aquatic plants and rich in bait organisms, providing ideal conditions for aquaculture and offering unique advantages for the breeding and growth of Yinchuan carp. As a result, the carp from this region boasts delicious, tender, and elastic meat without any fishy taste, delivering a pleasant eating experience. Additionally, the nutritional value of Yinchuan carp is mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, its protein content is not only high but also of high quality, with a human digestion and absorption rate of up to 96%. Second, the fat in Yinchuan carp is mostly unsaturated fatty acids, which can help lower cholesterol and prevent arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Third, per 100 grams, Yinchuan carp contains 17.6 grams of protein, 4.1 grams of fat, 25 micrograms of vitamin A, 0.09 grams of riboflavin, 2.7 milligrams of niacin, 1.27 milligrams of total vitamin E, 334 milligrams of potassium, 33 milligrams of magnesium, 2.08 milligrams of zinc, and 15.38 micrograms of selenium.

  Geographic Scope

  Yinchuan Carp is primarily distributed across 27 towns and some farms (management committees) in six counties (districts) within the administrative region of Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. These include: Zhangzheng Town, Daxin Town, Tonggui Township, Yueyahu Township, Liangtian Town, Fengdeng Town, Xingjing Town, Zhenbeibao Town, Xigang Town, Jingui Town, Ligang Town, Hongguang Town, Changxin Township, Nanyangtaizi Management Committee, Jingxing Farm and Animal Husbandry Farm, Yanghe Town, Lijun Town, Wangyuan Town, Wanghong Town, Minning Town, Shengli Township, Dongta Town, Haojiaqiao Town, Chongxing Town, Ningdong Town, Majiatan Town, Linhe Town, Wutongshu Township, and Batugang Township. Yinchuan City is located in the middle of the Ningxia Plain along the upper reaches of the Yellow River. It borders Yanchi County to the east; the Helan Mountains to the west, adjacent to Alxa League of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; the south connects to Tongxin County, Litong District of Wuzhong City, and Qingtongxia City; and the north adjoins Pingluo County and Ejin Horo Banner of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (with the Ming Great Wall as the boundary). It lies between longitude 105°49′–106°53′ and latitude 37°29′–38°53′, covering a total area of 9,491.0 square kilometers. Within this geographic scope, Yinchuan Carp is cultivated in all ponds, lakes, and wetlands, spanning a total area of 8,580 hectares with an annual yield of 2,900 tons.
