Lantern chili
Lantern chili
Lantern chili (scientific name: Yargrossumbaily), also known locally as "big chili," "garden chili," or "sweet pepper," is one of the high-quality vegetables produced in Jingyuan. The plant grows tall and slightly sprawling, with thick, large leaves and strong growth vigor. It requires good light and ventilation conditions. The fruit is flat-round, with many vertical grooves, and boasts bright and attractive colors. The average yield is around 6,000 jin per mu, with the main production areas located in towns such as Mitan, Dongwan, and Wulan. Scattered cultivation also occurs in other riverside towns. The chili typically comes to market in August and is harvested by the end of October. The product is widely distributed to Ningxia, Tibet, Sichuan, Qinghai, and various regions across Gansu.
