The white melon seeds produced in Qingyang are known for their large size, thin shells, clean white appearance, full kernels, high oil content, and delicious flavor when roasted. They are an ideal dry snack for daily consumption and gifting. With a long production history in Qingyang, these seeds are cultivated over a large area—over 10,000 mu annually, yielding more than 500,000 kilograms. The main cultivation areas are concentrated in certain towns of Huachi and Heshui.

The protected area includes 43 towns across 7 counties and 1 district under the jurisdiction of Qingyang City: Ruyuan, Yuele, Qiaohe, Yuancheng, Wangzuizi, Shangliyuan, Huai’an, Qiaochuan, Baima, Nanliang, Linzhen, and Shanzhuang in Huachi County; Taibai, Haizupu, Gucheng, and Tai’e in Heshui County; Xiangle, Pank, Jincun, Jiuxian, Miqiao, Pingzi, Liangping, and Zaosheng in Ning County; Yongzheng, Shanhe, and Xipo in Zhengning County; Xiaojin, Dongzhi, Houguanzhai, and Pengyuan in Xifeng District; Tuqiao, Taibailiang, and Caikokou in Qingcheng County; Chengguan, Tunzi, Kaibian, Pingquan, and Xincheng in Zhenyuan County; Quzi, Mubo, Fanjiachuan, and Huancheng in Huan County. The geographical coordinates span from 106°56′19″ to 108°42′48″ east longitude and from 35°24′38″ to 36°50′13″ north latitude.
