HuaChi Potatoes

　　HuaChi Potatoes are a specialty of HuaChi County in Qingyang City, Gansu Province. The annual potato yield in HuaChi County reaches 150,000 tons.

　　HuaChi County has increased support and guidance, continuously improving processing techniques, turning the humble potato into a "golden egg" that boosts farmers' incomes. In 2011, over 60,000 mu of potatoes were planted across the county, increasing the per capita income of farmers by 200 yuan. Potatoes have become one of the main industries for increasing farmers' income and local tax revenue. In 2012, the county continued to prioritize the development of the potato industry as a key measure to adjust the industrial structure and boost farmers’ income. By attracting 5 million yuan in investment, the new HuaChi County Jinluda Starch Factory was built to facilitate sales for local farmers. At the same time, the county proposed a "1211" planting project, planning to establish a 100,000-mu potato base primarily in the northwestern townships, with 65,000 mu to be planted in five townships: WuJiao, HuaiAn, YuanCheng, QiaoChuan, and BaiMa.
