Xuan Yuan Black Pottery
Ancient black pottery originated during the “Qiao Shan Culture” era over five thousand years ago. Historical records indicate that pottery-making was first invented by a master craftsman named Ning Feng, who served near the Yellow Emperor (Xuan Yuan). It was anciently referred to as Xuan Yuan Black Pottery and boasts a long history.
Currently, our county has developed the “Xuan Yuan” brand of black pottery products, encompassing six major categories and over sixty varieties. The “Xuan Yuan” black pottery aims to promote the virtues and culture of the Yellow Emperor (Xuan Yuan), with the cultural legacy of the Yellow Emperor at its core. It integrates the strengths of ancient, modern, and contemporary black pottery, embodying four distinctive features: era, region, scenic heritage, and folk customs. The products are rustic, elegant, jet-black and glossy, exquisitely crafted, and reflect a blend of antique charm and modern aesthetics. They hold significant value for collection, display, and practical use, making them ideal as travel souvenirs, gifts for family and friends, or home decorations. Particularly after their debut at the “Sixth China-Central and Western Economic and Trade Fair,” they garnered considerable attention and high praise from central, provincial, and municipal leaders, media outlets, and business delegates. The products have been featured multiple times on television stations at the central, provincial, city, and county levels and are exported across the province, as well as to Hong Kong and Macau. Professor Zhong Mingshan, Vice Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association, personally inscribed the phrase “Chinese Huangling Pottery Art.” In August 2004, during the first China Youth Cultural Week jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the National Youth Federation, the product won the “Special Contribution Award for Outstanding Inheritance of Chinese Youth Ethnic Culture” for its unique ethnic characteristics, distinct artistic style, and exquisite craftsmanship.
