Huangling Apples
Huangling apples are a specialty of Huangling County in Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. Known for their elegant shape, vibrant yet soft color, crisp and juicy flesh, rich and lingering fragrance, moderate firmness, high sugar content, pleasant taste, and excellent storability and transportability, Huangling apples are highly favored by consumers.
Huangling, situated in the central part of Shaanxi Province at the southern tip of Yan'an City, is the site of the mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor, the ancestor of the Chinese nation. Covering a total area of 2,275 square kilometers, it administers 6 towns, 4 townships, 1 subdistrict office, and 192 administrative villages, with a total population of 130,000. The county boasts well-developed transportation and abundant natural and cultural resources, with forest coverage reaching 70%. Huangling has a temperate continental monsoon climate with distinct seasons and mild weather, making it one of the world’s best regions for growing apples. The apples produced here are widely loved by domestic and international merchants for their large size, rich flavor, crisp texture, juiciness, high sugar content, smooth skin, excellent storability, and pollution-free quality. Currently, Huangling has over 200,000 acres of apple orchards, with an annual output of more than 260,000 tons, making it a national demonstration base for green apples and a production–export base for high-quality apples in Shaanxi.
