Dingbian Sunflower Seeds -- Nationally Recognized Famous, Special, and High-quality New Agricultural Product

Sunflower seeds are the seeds of the herbaceous plant sunflower, which belongs to the Asteraceae family. The sunflower is also known as giant chrysanthemum, sunflower, or simply sunflower. It is cultivated across various regions in China. In autumn, the flower receptacles are harvested, and the mature achenes (seeds) are collected and dried. When ready to use, the husks are removed (yielding the sunflower seed kernel). Properties: sweet in flavor, neutral in nature. Modern uses include lowering blood lipids and acting as an anthelmintic.

Sunflower seeds are rich in fatty oils, containing a large amount of linoleic acid, as well as phospholipids, β-sitosterol, and other sterols. They also contain proteins, carbohydrates, and organic acids such as citric acid, tartaric acid, and chlorogenic acid, along with carotene. Experiments have shown that phospholipids help prevent hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolemia in rats. The fatty oil of this product, especially the linoleic acid component, can inhibit experimental thrombosis in rats. Uses: for hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, hypertension; pinworm disease. Additionally, it is used folklorically to treat bloody dysentery. Methods of use: kernels can be chewed raw after shelling, eaten roasted, pressed for oil, or decocted into a soup.

Note: Roasted seeds are heating in nature and should not be consumed excessively.
