Menglā Amomum Fruit

　　Menglā Amomum Fruit is a specialty of Menglā County in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The amomum fruit industry has become one of the key economic sources for farmers in the mountainous areas of Menglā County, following rubber and tea.

　　To implement Menglā County’s economic development strategy goal of “enriching the county through green industries,” enhance the green ecological economy, and expand farmers’ income sources, this year the county increased support for upgrading low-yield amomum orchards. A total of 10,600 mu of low-yield orchards were improved across 14 villages in 7 townships throughout the county, and 4,500 mu of new orchards were planted. The county also established 10 mu of amomum nurseries, breeding a total of 300,000 high-quality Yānchūn amomum seedlings, and provided 2.25 million seedlings free of charge to farmers along with 70,000 kilograms of compound fertilizer. Currently, Menglā County’s amomum cultivation area has reached 60,008 mu, with a total dry fruit yield of 458 tons and an output value of 55 million yuan.
