Sinan Yellow Cattle
Sinan Yellow Cattle is a geographical indication certification trademark.
Geographical Range
Sinan Yellow Cattle are distributed across twelve counties and special districts in Guizhou Province, including Suiyang, Meitan, Fenggang, Yuqing, Zunyi, Weng’an, Yuping, Tongren, Yinjiang, Jiangkou, Songtao, and Wanshan.
Distinctive Qualities
Sinan Yellow Cattle have a medium-length head. The “inverted V-shaped horn” is the main horn type, and horn colors include black, gray-black, milky yellow, milky white, and over ten other varieties. Bulls have thick, well-developed shoulder humps that rise 6–8 centimeters above the backline. Their bodies are stocky and short, with relatively broad chests and compact builds. The rump is sloped, and the distance between the hind leg hock joints is relatively narrow. The hooves are well-formed, predominantly black, hard and durable, with tough hoof shells that are wear-resistant, moisture-resistant, and have strong regenerative capabilities—making them well-suited for grazing and plowing in rocky, bare, and erosion-prone mountainous areas, where they outperform introduced cattle breeds. Their coat colors are quite varied, with yellow fur accounting for over 70%, followed by black at about 13%, and the remainder including brown, dark brown, and straw-white hues.
