Blueberries

　　With the assistance of the Jiangsu Institute of Botany at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Guizhou Province Majiang County Fruit Office has, since 2000, introduced 12 varieties of American blueberries for selection, breeding, and cultivation trials. Suitable high-quality varieties have now been selected, with yields reaching over 300 kilograms per mu within three years—comparable to those in the berries’ native U.S. regions, and even surpassing them for some varieties. Meanwhile, nutrient testing conducted by Guizhou University has shown that the fruit's nutritional content matches that of the origin areas. It can be anticipated that blueberries will become a new variety with significant export potential for the red-yellow soil hilly regions of southern China.
