Liping Poria
In recent years, Liping County has established a county-level Poria Cocos Association to guide and expand the industry. It has now developed into the “China Distribution Hub for Dried and Fresh Poria Cocos,” boasting a complete industrial chain covering strain cultivation, planting, and deep processing. There is currently one Poria processing enterprise, eight Poria strain production factories, and the industry has engaged over 100,000 people from surrounding provinces, counties, and cities in cultivation, processing, and sales. The county is home to more than 4,000 Poria-growing households, cultivating around 3 million pits of Poria annually, yielding approximately 4,000 tons of fresh Poria per year, making it one of the country’s major Poria-producing counties.
It is reported that the artificial cultivation of “Liping Poria” has a history of over 50 years. It was once recognized by China's Ministry of Light Industry as an “export exempt product” and has been sold worldwide. The county plans to focus on developing “standardized Poria cultivation,” aiming to establish three Poria strain breeding bases and maintain a stable cultivation of over 3.5 million pits by 2018.
