Naxi Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue Tea is produced in the Jinfeng Mountain range within Naxi County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. It gets its name from the fact that its tea leaves resemble the tip of a sparrow’s tongue. Made from the tender single buds picked between early February and early March each year, this tea is meticulously crafted by senior tea masters using special techniques. It has flat and straight leaves, a vibrant emerald green color, bright yellow-green liquor, tender and even yellow leaf bases, a rich and lasting chestnut aroma, and a fresh, mellow, and refreshing taste. It excels in color, aroma, flavor, and appearance, sparking the imagination. As far back as the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, monks from the temple at the foot of the mountain came up to taste the tea. When asked to name the tea, the master meditated for a long time and said, “This is a famous mountain in southern Sichuan, where flocks of sparrows flit through the valleys. The shape of this tea closely resembles the tip of a sparrow’s tongue—let its name be ‘Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue.’” Since then, the name “Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue” has spread far and wide. In 2006, at the China (Chengdu) Domestic Tourism Trade Fair, “Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue” was awarded the honor of “China’s Most Characteristic Travel Commodity.”

The flagship product of Naxi Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue Tea boasts characteristics such as being exceptionally early-harvested, (chestnut) aromatic, mellow, and refreshing. It also carries an ethereal charm that is both serene and uplifting. Drinking a pot of this tea atop the mountain gives one the feeling of “basking in a landscape painting as if enthroned above the world.” Naxi Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue is a high-mountain tea grown at 1,500 meters above sea level. After years of scientific development, the research project “Chestnut-Aroma Health Tea” has been listed as a “Key Supported Project for Technological Innovation in Sichuan Province from 2006 to 2007.”

Naxi Southern Sichuan Sparrow’s Tongue Tea is rich in vitamins and mineral trace elements, such as tea polyphenols and tea polysaccharides.
