Beichuan raw lacquer

　　Beichuan raw lacquer has a long history. It is found throughout almost the entire county. Since the 1970s, the county has implemented a series of reforms in the production, management, and operation of raw lacquer, leading to significant development in this sector. By the end of 1985, 74,456 acres of contiguous lacquer tree plantations had been newly established, forming four major areas each exceeding 10,000 acres—Zhicheng (Yuli), Xiaoba, Leigu, and Chenjiaba—and 24 townships each with over 1,000 acres, including Macao (Macao Office, Badixiang) and Yuli (Yuxue Office, Yulixiang). Subao Township (Subao Office, Leigu) became the first township to exceed 10,000 acres of lacquer trees. The highest annual yield reached 865 dan. In 1981, at the National Raw Lacquer Conference held in Wuhan, Beichuan was recognized as an advanced county, and the State Council awarded it a plaque along with a prize of 10,000 yuan.

　　 　　Beichuan raw lacquer is known for being heat-resistant, wear-resistant, and solvent-resistant, and it is exported to Japan, Thailand, and other countries. Its quality has been ranked third in the nation, its production volume ninth, and its provincial ranking second. It is one of the national and Sichuan provincial base counties for raw lacquer.
