Oil Tea – The Key to Prosperity in Xiushan
Tea oil is known as the “Oriental Olive Oil” and “soft gold” because of its excellent flavor, high-quality oil, and rich nutritional value. Xiushan Oil Tea delivers substantial ecological benefits, high economic returns, and wide social advantages. It plays a very important role in advancing comprehensive development of mountainous areas, increasing employment and income for farmers, improving people’s health, and accelerating the greening process of the county.
“Xiuyou” Has a Long History. Xiushan County, located at the southernmost tip of Chongqing, has long been a major producer of oil tea, with a long history of cultivation. It was once a national oil tea base county and is honored as the “Hometown of Oil Tea.”
Preliminary Scale of Production Bases Has Been Achieved. Since 2008, with strong support from the county Party committee and government, the oil tea industry in our county has flourished. To date, 16 oil tea production bases have been established, covering a planted area of 100,000 mu, along with 7 oil tea enterprises and 5 oil tea specialized cooperatives.
Next Phase Goals. Centering on the overall strategy of “Developing Wealth-Generating Mountains and Building the Hometown of Oil Tea,” and leveraging support from all sectors, we aim to establish 300,000 mu of high-quality, high-yield oil tea planting bases by 2017, and develop a series of oil tea products including tea oil and tea saponin.
