Wanzhou Rose Fragrant Orange
The Wanzhou Rose Fragrant Orange is a geographical indication certification trademark.
The "Rose Fragrant Orange" (originating from the Tarocco blood orange of Sicily, Italy) is one of the main late-maturing citrus varieties promoted in Wanzhou, Chongqing. It currently has a planted area of 25,000 mu and an annual output of 20,000 tons. Wanzhou is one of the most suitable regions in China for growing citrus. Thanks to its unique natural ecological conditions, the late-maturing Tarocco blood oranges grown here feature both rose-colored skin and flesh, as well as a distinct rose fragrance, hence earning the name Wanzhou "Rose Fragrant Orange."
Wanzhou "Rose Fragrant Oranges" mature between January and February, later than most common citrus fruits. Every year on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, Wanzhou hosts a "Rose Fragrant Orange Romantic Festival" in the orchards where the oranges are grown.
The Wanzhou "Rose Fragrant Orange" fruit is relatively large, with smooth skin, bright color, seedless flesh, juicy texture, rich flavor, high nutritional value, late maturation, easy storage and transport, and excellent quality. According to years of testing data, the average single fruit weighs 186 grams, with a peel thickness of 0.33 cm, soluble solids content of 12–13%, vitamin C content of 60.40 mg per 100 ml of juice, a solid-acid ratio of 11.54, juice extraction rate of 69.62%, and edible rate of 77.99%.
