Longzhou Chopping Block
The timber of Longzhou’s camphorwood is hard, dense, and fine-grained, making it one of China’s precious timber species. The world-renowned Longzhou chopping block is crafted from this wood. These circular blocks typically measure 36–43 cm in diameter and 4–8 cm in thickness. With a smooth, mirror-like surface and fine, sturdy grain, the blocks remain virtually unblemished even when subjected to the force of sharp knives, earning them a reputation as treasures among kitchenware. A single Longzhou chopping block can last around twenty years, and with proper use and care, may even serve two generations.
