Cenxi Rubber Powder
Rubber powder
Rubber powder production in the city has a history of over 100 years. It is used as raw material for making incense sticks, mosquito coils, wooden boats, and can also be used to produce children’s toys. The main production areas are Daye Town and Jinzhu Town. The powder is made from the bark and leaves of cultivated rubber trees. Rubber powder made solely from rubber bark is called premium rubber powder, while that made from a mixture of rubber bark, branches, and leaves is called medium-grade rubber powder. Incense stick factories such as those at the Cenxi County Wooden Clamp Cooperative, Baizhu Village in Daye Town, and Zhangmu Street in Cencheng Town produce various types of incense including yellow incense, white incense, red incense, and natural-color incense. In addition to domestic sales, the products are also exported to Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong and Macau. In 1986 alone, 367 tons of rubber powder were sold to Hong Kong.
