Fogang Sugar Oranges

Sugar oranges are flat-round in shape with bumpy protuberances on the top and a slightly indented navel end. Their peel is orange-yellow, thin, and easy to remove. The fruit shape index is 0.78, with an average weight of 62–86 grams per fruit. The edible portion is 71%, containing 11% soluble solids. Each 100 milliliters includes 10.55 grams of total sugar and 0.35 grams of fruit acid. The flesh is crisp, juicy, tender, and sweet, leaving a refreshing and soothing aftertaste that lingers delightfully. This product is renowned both in China and abroad. During the 1960s and 1970s, it was widely exported and sold in large quantities to Southeast Asia and Hong Kong and Macao regions.

The sugar orange gets its name from its sweet taste, reminiscent of sugar. Sugar oranges are grown throughout Fogang County, but those from Min’an and Longnan Towns are particularly prized for their exceptional quality—deliciously sweet, pulp-free, and exquisitely smooth, truly making them a premium fruit.
