Peace Kiwifruit
Peace Kiwifruit is a specialty of Heping County in Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. Heping County is the southernmost kiwifruit production base in China, cultivating premium varieties such as Chinese kiwifruit and delicious kiwifruit.
The cultivation of kiwifruit in Heping County began in the early 1980s with a countywide survey of wild kiwifruit resources. Experts were pleasantly surprised to find that the area had relatively abundant wild kiwifruit resources, with wild kiwifruit trees often spotted in mountainous areas, producing delicious fruit. Analysis led experts to conclude that Heping County was well-suited for kiwifruit cultivation.
Subsequently, the county introduced premium varieties such as Chinese kiwifruit and delicious kiwifruit, gradually expanding the planting area. To date, the kiwifruit planting area in the county has reached 30,000 mu, yielding over 5,000 tons of fresh fruit annually. Peace has become the largest kiwifruit production base in South China, and kiwifruit has emerged as the county’s most distinctive fruit product.
To date, the variety layout of kiwifruit production bases in Heping County has achieved an initial balance of early-, mid-, and late-season varieties, as well as a mix of Chinese kiwifruit and delicious kiwifruit varieties. This allows fresh kiwifruit from Heping County to be available on the market from July to November, with a sales period extending up to six months.
