Shanxi is one of China's major millet-producing regions, with yellow grains being the primary crop variety. Among Shanxi's millets, Qinxian County stands out, where the "Qinzhou Yellow" millet features large, golden-yellow grains with a rich, fragrant taste, earning it the reputation as a premium among millets.

The cultivation of "Qinzhou Yellow" has a long history. Grown in remote mountainous areas with fresh air and clean soil, it is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, making it a completely natural green food product. It is finely milled and does not require rinsing, being suitable for both steaming and boiling. Its porridge is fragrantly sweet and lingers on the palate, while the cooked rice has a unique flavor, suitable for all ages, making it a nutritious food choice for any season. It is said that from the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty until the end of the Qing Dynasty over several hundred years, "Qinzhou Yellow" millet was almost annually presented to the imperial court as a tribute. "Qinzhou Yellow" millet is highly nutritious—per 100 grams it contains 9.7 grams of protein, 3.5 grams of fat, 72.8 grams of carbohydrates, 362 kilocalories of energy, 1.6 grams of crude fiber, and is also rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron, thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin.
