Enping Choy Sum
Enping Choy Sum (including Chinese cabbage heart, bok choy heart, mustard green heart, and Chinese kale heart) — a renowned, high-quality, and innovative agricultural product from Jiangmen City
Choy Sum, also known as "caihua" (flowering vegetable), is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant, growing 30–50 cm tall, completely hairless; the stem is upright or ascending. Originating in southern China, it was developed through long-term selection and cultivation from Chinese cabbage varieties that are prone to bolting, eventually forming various types and cultivars. It is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. In the latter half of the 20th century, it was successfully introduced to Japan. Choy Sum is a specialty vegetable of Guangdong, China, known for its tender texture and pleasant flavor. It can be cultivated year-round, making it a common vegetable in Guangdong and Guangxi, and is regularly exported to Hong Kong and Macau, becoming one of the main vegetables in export trade.
