Pinglu Lily
Pinglu Lily, produced in Pinglu County at the foot of the Zhongtiao Mountain, is renowned for its high quality and rich nutritional value, earning it the nickname "Zhongtiao Ginseng." It is cultivated from transplanted wild lilies. The bulbs are large, thick-fleshed, with a non-bitter aftertaste and no fibrous core. The largest can weigh over three taels (about 112 grams), while the average is around two taels (about 70 grams). When fresh, the bulbs resemble a white lotus. Harvested fresh lilies can be dried without rotting, or buried in moist soil to remain fresh year-round. They are rich in protein, fat, starch, vitamins, and contain small amounts of calcium, phosphorus, and iron. With high medicinal value, they help invigorate the spleen and boost energy, warm the lungs and relieve coughs, calm the nerves, and clear the heart. Fresh white-flower lilies have become a local remedy for bronchitis and insomnia. The Pinglu Canning Factory has produced canned lilies, which are very popular with customers.
