Pinglu Pomegranates
Pinglu County has a long history of pomegranate cultivation, with over 5,000 acres of pomegranate orchards, mainly concentrated near the county seat and in towns to the west of the county. Pinglu pomegranates are large, typically weighing between 500–750 grams, with the largest exceeding 1,000 grams. The skin is bright red, vividly colored, smooth, and clean; the seeds are plump, large, and brilliantly red and translucent, as beautiful as agate; the flavor is long-lasting, with a rich, sweet and tangy juice, containing 17% refractometric sugar. Pomegranates are not only a delicious food but their skins also have medicinal uses. They are warm in nature and have a sour, astringent taste, and are used to treat chronic diarrhea, dysentery, bloody prolapse, uterine bleeding, leukorrhea, and abdominal pain due to parasites.
Pinglu has favorable natural geographic and climatic conditions for pomegranate growth. Its products are now exported to major southern cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, offering broad development prospects.
