Pinglu Winged Oil

A woody oil-bearing plant, classified as a second-class nationally protected tree species. It grows in mountain valleys across townships such as Sanmen, Podi, and Shengrenjian. According to a 1984 survey, just in the Waxia Gully area of Sanmen Township, the wild winged oil plant covers an area of over 3,000 mu. The seed kernels of winged oil have an oil content as high as 51%, and the oil is of good quality, with chemical properties similar to those of peanut oil and rapeseed oil. Its fatty acid composition is close to that of walnut oil, peanut oil, and soybean oil. The oil has a pleasant flavor and high nutritional value, making it an excellent edible oil. The fat in winged oil contains 45.2% linoleic acid, which has proven therapeutic effects for treating arteriosclerosis and hypertension. It is the main raw material used in producing “linoleic acid pills” and is in great demand in the medical field. This tree species holds significant economic value, with broad market prospects and vast development potential.
