　　Pinglu Apples: Pinglu is an important fruit production base in our province, with a total of 350,000 mu of fruit planted across the county, including 250,000 mu dedicated to apples. In recent years, the county has prioritized the apple industry as a key driver of farmers' income growth. Despite tight financial conditions, it has allocated 7.5 million yuan in special funds over two consecutive years to support the development of the apple industry.

　　Currently, the county's apple exports account for more than half of the total apple exports in the province. It is reported that in 2012, Pinglu County’s apple production will reach 300 million kilograms, with an estimated output value of 450 million yuan.

　　Geographic Scope

　　Pinglu County is located in the golden triangle area of the Yellow River between Henan and Shanxi — bordered by the Zhongtiao Mountains and adjacent to the Hedong Basin to the north, and facing Sanmenxia City in Henan Province across the Yellow River to the south. The protected geographic area for Pinglu Apples as a geographical indication product includes Hongchi Township, Changle Town, Zhangcun Town, Duma Township, Buguan Township, Zhangdian Town, and Shengrenjian Town, covering 121 administrative villages. The geographical coordinates span from 34°45′57″N to 34°59′31″N and 110°55′24″E to 111°15′52″E, stretching 41 kilometers from east to west and 16.5 kilometers from north to south. The production area covers 16,700 hectares, with an annual yield of 376,000 tons.

　　1. External Sensory Features: Pinglu Apples are well-shaped, brightly colored, sweet and fragrant in flesh, crisp in texture, rich in nutrition, and green and safe. 2. Internal Quality: Pinglu Apples are rich in nutrients, with total sugar content ranging from 9.7–11.9g/100ml, total acid content ≤0.2g/100ml, vitamin C 4.33–5.51mg/100g, soluble solids ≥11.5%, potassium ≥950mg/kg, calcium ≥10mg/kg, iron 1.24–1.69mg/kg, and selenium ≥0.004mg/kg. 3. Safety Requirements: Strictly implementing the "Pollution-Free Agricultural Product Production Procedures" ensures that the production environment meets the atmospheric, water, and soil quality standards specified for pollution-free fruit production areas, thereby guaranteeing the quality of Pinglu Apples.
